Job Description:

  • Ensure employees adhere to safe work practices; supports the company’s goal to reduce injuries.
  • Establish and sustain effective relationships with all employees in order to foster an environment where innovation, continuous improvement, and cooperation are used to solve problems.
  • Promote positive employee relations through effective relationship building, conflict management and issue resolution.
  • Provide performance feedback and coaching to team members via individual development plans or other documentation.
  • Recommend and administer progressive discipline as necessary, per company policy.
  • Responsible for enforcement of company policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular team meetings which include effective communication of organizational and policy changes.
  • Facilitate effective sharing of information across work teams, business areas, and functional areas.
  • Work and/or attend meetings during other shifts (including off-shifts and/or weekends) as necessary.
  • Manage daily staffing and effective resource allocation to maximize efficiency.
  • Identify employees with the desire and ability to handle greater responsibility and, when appropriate, ensures those employees receive training to achieve their potential.
  • Function as a technical and business resource in areas of system operations and product requirements.
  • Obtain in-depth understanding of technical manufacturing processes & ensure team is progressively developing technical expertise.
  • Drive continuous improvement and total employee involvement in critical success areas by empowering employees to utilize lean manufacturing tools.
  • Understand core mechanical technologies, including fasteners, lubrication, drives, transmission systems, motion systems, pneumatic, hydraulics and electrical/controls.
  • Effectively track and report manufacturing process performance in critical success areas.
  • Responsible for business improvement projects specifically related to processes, procedures, schedules and operator team effectiveness.
  • Manage daily staffing and effective resource allocation to maximize process efficiency.

Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or Management required. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting; food processing experience highly preferred.
  • Experience in lean manufacturing or green/black belt in Lean Six Sigma highly preferred.
  • Proven leadership, management, and people development skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and convert strategy into action.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Must hold current, valid drivers’ license and provide proof of current automobile insurance.
  • Must have reliable transportation to transport self between company facilities during work hours, as needed, and transportation to and from off-site company events.
  • Ability to work varying shifts, weekends and overtime required.
